the fourth of july...

If you've read our story, then you know that the Fourth of July has an extra special meaning for us.
We met on the Fourth in 2005. Melinda and I are always looking for an excuse to have a celebration, so this weekend we will celebrate our country's independence and the anniversary of the day we met.
In honor of this anniversary, here are some pictures from the day we became Mr. and Mrs. Babb
(pictures done by Kim Durham Photography):

...my favorite person...

...say hello to your new in-laws :)...

...my pops and i...

...don't mess with me and my crew...

...the scene; it's go time...

...some edits/effects i've added with photoshop...
...color overlays...

...color adjustment...

...our niece as an oil painting...

...jumping the broom; lomo photography effect...

...polaroid effect; the polaroids don't look realistic because they need dimension and depth, oh well...

...a couple of mash-ups...

...notice how the white space in the collage above makes it look nice;
the collage below looks like somebody threw-up pictures all over a canvas;
lesson learned...

Things that I thought were cool about our wedding:

1. Finally marrying this girl that I had been chasing on-and-off for a couple of years.
2. Building the cross with my dad.
3. The weather.
Our pastor and Sunday school class prayed for months that we would have good weather.
It was cloudy and misty most of the day,
until Melinda came out of the house and started walking down the aisle.
The sun started shining right on top of the wedding at that moment. No kidding.
4. Melinda yelling, "I love you Josh!" from her end of the house as I left to go take my place at the altar.
5. Not seeing her all day until she came out of the house with her dad.
6. That "relief" feeling when the ceremony is over and it's time to let loose and have fun.
7. Seeing family and close friends.
8. Dancing to our "other" wedding song
(Melinda's sister had heard the song, "Then" by Brad Paisley
and told us that the lyrics went along with our story, so we danced to it)
9. Our "Love is not a Fight" slideshow
(Our wedding song; it's by Warren Barfield and it's featured on the movie Fireproof)
10. Toasting our marriage with cups of milk (we're milk freaks...drink a ton of it)
11. Sitting on our bed that night in the hotel suite, eating Subway
(I didn't realize that the bride and groom don't have any time to eat at the reception!),
and talking about the events of the day with my bride.
