Miss America

So I might have gotten a little carried away with the Miss America Pageant. This weekend our friends Chris and Kim, Joshua and myself, spent a lot of time sorting through all the contestants the Friday before. We looked at all the photos and read almost all their platforms and educational pursuits. We wrote down our top ten choices and then narrowed it down as the competition wore on. We were yelling at the TV I tell ya.. it was bad.

Miss Oklahoma was my #1 choice from the beginning. (3 out of 4 of us had actually picked her to be #1.) I thought she was gorgeous, her platform was "Milk. It really does a body good." (There's a story behind that though. Joshua and I love milk so much we toasted with it at our wedding. Say what you want.. but yes, we love it that much!) and she was pursuing and education degree; which I have. So needless to say, I loved her. We watched her performance as the night went on, and all liked her even more. She was confident, well spoken, and seriously had a smokin' body.. which, hello?!?! It's the Miss America Pageant for cryin' out loud, it matters! As an important side note, she was America's #1 pick as well. She ended up getting first runner up, but I swear she deserved to win.

My next pick was Tennessee. Ya'll, she was seriously the prettiest person I'd ever seen in my life. Tennessee only made it into the top ten.. which I thought was a load of doggy poopy. But I guess they didn't really care about my opinion. ;)

Miss Tennessee

Miss Oklahoma

These girls are seriously pretty and smart. But as we all know the most important thing in life is not about either one of those things.

Proverbs 31:30 says, "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised."

There's nothin' wrong with gettin' all gussied up for our husbands. They appreciate how we look.

“If you feel sloppy on the outside, before long it’s going to get on the inside. Take time to look your best.” ~ Joel Osteen

“How we put ourselves together can be very revealing as to what kind of person we are.” ~ Susan Branch, Artist/Author

But a woman can be very beautiful on the outside, wear all the fancy things, top of the line cosmetics.. but if she opens her mouth and vulgar language comes out or gossip, her beauty is lost.

So remember to clothe yourself with beauty on the inside first. It's what's most important to our God.
