I'm always looking for more ways to add some down home goodness to the ole house. And since spring is just around the corner, I thought I'd include a little farm freshness to the kitchen with this sign. C'mon, I'll show ya!
Step 1.
Find a sturdy piece of wood or barn oak.
Step 2.
Choose a few colors that will go along with your decor. Doesn't have to be anything expensive. I used materials that were already available to me.
Step 3.
Paint the piece of wood with the base color of your choice. Make sure and use several coats. Let dry.
Step 4.
Think of a word or phrase you'd like to use and sketch out a font you take a fancy to. In my case, I used the word buttermilk.
Step 5.
When the base color has dried, begin painting your lettering out on the piece of wood.
Step 6.
Feel free to add embellishments if you desire. I added a thin white outline. Let dry.
When you've achieved the look want, pin 'er up!
I would suggest using picture frame hangers or some wire. If you are using an old piece of barn oak, like I am, hammering nails into the wood could cause splitting.
*Remember: If you are planning to use your picture outdoors, you might think about adding a clear top coat. You wouldn't want the weather to ruin all that hard work. ;)
Hope ya'll have a productive afternoon!
Happy crafting!
